Why skin-to-skin contact is important when feeding

Skin-to-skin contact is important for all babies because it:

  • Keeps baby warm
  • Calms their heartbeat
  • Reduces stress levels in both mum (or dad) and little one
  • Regulates your baby’s breathing.

The effects of skin-to-skin contact – by either mum or dad – support brain development, positive attachment and bonding.
